South County Food Fitness and Fun
More than 40% of the children in Rhode Island are overweight, a condition that can contribute to a number of serious medical issues that may follow young people into adulthood.
South County Food Fitness and Fun (SCFFF) is an ongoing program through South County Hospital for children between the ages of 6-10 who are overweight. The study combines a fitness and nutritional counseling program for the child and parent(s) aimed at improving their diets and fitness in a fun and friendly environment. Kids who enroll in the program, along with their families, learn how to eat healthy and become physically active as part of a daily routine.
SCFF is sponsored by Coastal Medical and The University of Rhode Islandand there is no cost to participate. The study is held at Busy Bodies Studio in Wakefield, RI.
