Joyce Alves, DO
Dr. Joyce Alves was a registered nurse at the Children's Hospital in Boston for 6 years before going on to medical school. Dr. Alves graduated from The University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford Maine in 1990. She completed a rotating Internship at Cranston General Hospital in 1991 and completed her Family Medicine residency at UMass Medical Center in 1994.
Dr. Alves remained on staff at UMass Medical Center training new residents and managing a panel of patients in an inner city clinic until 1997.
Since 1997, Dr. Alves has been in private practice in Rhode Island. She is Board Certified in Family Medicine and has incorporated manipulation as a treatment for various musculoskeletal ailments into her practice.
Penny McLean-Nowinski, NP
Penny McLean-Nowinski received her Masters of Science in Nursing from Northern Kentucky University. Prior to coming to Coastal Medical, she was as a family Nurse Practitioner at The Christ Hospital Physicians Internal Medicine in Cincinnati, Ohio.
James Schwartz, MD
Dr. James Schwartz graduated from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in 1992. He completed his Family Medicine residency at UMass Medical Center in 1995.
Dr. Schwartz has been in private practice in Rhode Island since 1996. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at Alpert Medical School, Brown University. Dr. Schwartz is Board Certified in Family Medicine.
