Priya Bansal, MD
Dr. Priya Bansal is a board certified Internal Medicine physician. She received her Master of Public Health from Brown University in 2006, and completed her Internal Medicine residency at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island, where she was awarded the “Most Outstanding Intern Award” in 2007.
Dr. Bansal received a Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery from Maulana Azad Medical College, University of Delhi India.
Rajnish Bansal, MD
Dr. Rajnish Bansal is a graduate of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Roger Williams Medical Center. He has experience in three different countries (Ireland, India and the United States).
Barbara E. Burchard, MSN, NP
Barbara Burchard received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Syracuse University and completed her Graduate Studies in the Nurse Practitioner Program at the University of Rhode Island. Before joining Coastal Medical, she worked at NYU Medical Center, Rhode Island Hospital and the VA Medical Center in Providence, RI. Barbara currently works in Coastal Medical’s Warren Avenue office.
Suzanne Burns, MD
Dr. Suzanne Burns received her medical education from Brown University, and completed her residency at Roger Williams University in 1988. She is a member of the Clinical Practices Committee. In addition, Dr. Burns is a Brown University Preceptor for Medical Students and Residents.
Angela Carr, PA-C
Angela Carr earned her Bachelors of Art degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Denver and finished the Physician Assistant Program at Northeastern University. Before joining Coastal Medical, Angela worked at South County Hospital, Miriam Hospital, and Memorial Hospital. She has been with Coastal Medical since 1995 and works at Coastal’s Warren Avenue office.

Myra A. Chaudary, DO, is a graduate of Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine. She served as Chief Resident at Chesterfield Family Practice / Chippenham & Johnston-Willis Hospitals in Virginia.

Jeffrey Cumplido, MD, MPH
Jeffrey Cumplido, MD, MPH, graduated from Tufts University’s MD/MPH program. He completed his residency in the General Internal Medicine Program and was Chief Resident at Warren Alpert School of Medicine at Brown University.

Karen P. Kawa, NP
Karen P. Kawa earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at St. Anselm College, NH and her Master of Nursing at Boston College, MA. She has a special interest in the promotion of self-care in the management of diabetes.
Tesfaye Meren, MD
Dr. Tesfaye Meren received his medical education and completed his residency at the hospitals affiliated with Akademia Medyczna in Lodz, Poland and Falkner Hospital in Massachusetts.
Stephanie Nunes, NP
Stephanie Nunes received her Masters of Science in Nursing from MGH Institute of Health Professions. She has a strong background in managing chronic deseases such as HTN, COPD and diabetes.
Jennifer Rossi-Stephens, PA
Jennifer Rossi-Stephens graduated from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI with a Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. Jennifer previously worked in the non-profit sector focusing on a variety of public health issues, including maternal and child health outcomes and social determinants of health. She also held positions and partnerships with the RI Department of Health and the United Way of RI.
Larry J. Schoenfeld, MD
Dr. Larry Schoenfeld received his medical degree from Thomas Jefferson Medical School in Philadelphia, PA in 1977. He completed his residency at Lankenau Hospital in Philadelphia in 1980. He is a Member of the Coastal Medical Board of Directors, as well as the Management Board of Directors.
Parul Shah, MD, FACP, MRCP (UK)
Dr. Shah graduated from MGIMS, India in 1985, and subsequently did postgraduate studies in Internal Medicine and Cardiology in Bombay Hospital Institute of Medical sciences until 1989. Thereafter, she did further residencies and Fellowship in Internal Medicine and Cardiology in Regional Hospital Galway, Ireland for 5 years; and obtained MRCP diploma from United Kingdom. Prior to joining Coastal Medical she worked as Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine with Boston University providing academic training for residents and students; and worked as Associate Program Director for Internal Medicine Residency at Roger William Medical Center (RWMC). She has been in active clinical practice for 17 years as Attending Physician at RWMC.

Karen R. Smigel, MD
Dr. Karen Smigel is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, MA and completed her residency in the Brown University Program in Family Medicine at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island. Most recently she worked as a primary care specialist in East Greenwich, RI and served as the Medical Director of South County Health Primary Care. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Practice at Brown University School of Medicine and is a small group leader faculty member at the Alpert Medical School at Brown University.
